An Improvement on Data Interoperability with Large-Scale Conceptual Model and Its Application in Industry

In the world of the Internet of Things, heterogeneous systems and devices need to be connected. A key issue for systems and devices is data interoperability such as automatic data exchange and interpretation. A wellknown approach to solve the interoperability problem is building a conceptual model (CM). Regarding CM in industrial domains, there are often a large number of entities defined in one CM. How data interoperability with such a largescale CM can be supported is a critical issue when applying CM into industrial domains. In this paper, evolved from our previous work, a meta-model equipped with new concepts of “PropertyRelationship” and “Category” is proposed, and a tool called FSCM supporting the automatic generation of property relationships and categories is developed. A case study in an industrial domain shows that the proposed approach effectively improves the data interoperability of large-scale CMs.
